The First Congregational United Church of Christ is a Protestant denomination founded by the Pilgrims and Puritans when they first sailed to the shores of America to worship as they pleased. Our denomination, the United Church of Christ was formed on June 25, 1957, when the Congregational Christian Churches and the Evangelical and Reformed Church joined. Our motto is “That they may all be one.” (John 17:21a)

Our church was founded in 1872 and is still going strong. We are traditional in worship style, yet our new hymnal WORSHIP AND REJOICE includes all the grand old hymns, in addition to up and coming praise songs.
Music is particularly strong at our church. We have a Chancel Choir, Pilgrim Bell Ensemble, the Altarnotes, Jongleurs (recorders) and a Youth Choir.
Our church hosts free "Concerts At Four" monthly on Sunday afternoon and is the venue for a variety of other community musical groups including the Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra, the Up North Big Band, Bay View Young Artists, the Christmas Collage, etc. In 2006, we added a new Rogers Trillium organ which is such a blessing to our church’s music.
Our worship style is open and inviting. Our pastor invites others to lead worship as lay leaders, guest pastors and special musicians. Fourth Sunday each month during the school year is “Family Sunday”, designed for all ages to share, but the kids are very involved. We strive to keep worship inspiring, fresh and spirited.
Come, join us. You can worship each Sunday in the summer, in the sanctuary at 10:00 AM and the rest of the year at 11:00 AM in the church sanctuary.
